Snape -not really but...

The arrow thing on the image is a note to myself when i see a fuck up. (they're all studies, so notes are good to remind one of what you did wrong for future refference.) My note to myself was that i elongated the nose (hence why he looks like Snape.) I tend to elongate sections and also enlarge spaces. It's always a challenge to break yourself from these types of things, but exciting when you can catch them yourself. This was one of the more serious drawings from my latest drawing session, so i'm more critical to this drawing than say "Egon's Drunk Again." ([link]) In "Egon.." I was going for something mores expressive and taking bits from the model that really make the figure what it is (almost charicature, but in a more serious an antomical and analitical way, and less on the humor other then the stupid title which no one got.. bah.) In this I wanted to do a face study so I could re-familiarize myself with the way the face is constructed.. course that didn't turn out liek i planned (i'd have to have a closer and croped shot.. and better lighting for me to really get that.) but instead I got a good impression of the facial expression and the hand, and even the hair.

There's always something to discover in yourself when you draw from real life, and how it relates to your illustrations.
