Guy Bust in Rain

character- Guy Salvatore.
from- my comic, "The God Machine."
media- clay and today's falling rain.
made- early 2003.
weighes- approx 50 pounds. (should weigh less, but i used 2 boxes of clay that were 25 pounds each, and my friend gave me some of her clay to help finish him.. so he should almost weigh in at 50ish lbs. )
Size- just slightly larger then a normal sized human head.

I've bene wanting to re-photograph him for a few years now. I jsut never had the right lighting for him.
Well since we've moved he's been out on the porch.. and my my.. i re-discovered what I loved about him.
The light touches him just right, giving him a remarkable glow and vibrance. The old aprtment was all wrong for him.. that and he was in a lil corner where no one could see him for a long time, then he made his way to teh kitchen table.. and wore Jim's top hat for awhile.. fit him well.. hehehe.

I did him back in community college. Hurt my wrists majorly as i was sculpting him. The clay.. she is not yeilding to the hands. Also getting from place to place was a pain too. I remember i had to get somebody to kart him out to my car and help me pack him into my trunk. But gods was this an exciting project! I got a 3 mirror set up to look at my own face and really discover the human face and how it's constructed. I believe thsi experience gave me more insight to my later on in my drawing classes.

He is not perfect.. in fact i hate his neck and shoulders.. but thats ok, he was my teacher for things to come, and what i think of as a reminder of how much i enjoyed sculpting, and creating something so complicated.

Anyways the rain just fell on him perfectly today that i just had to take a picture. it was a beautiful oppertunity. Course right now as i type he's dried up, and the rain has stopped.
