for- a contest for ~ElectronicBodyMusic media- pencil, ink, fire, water, crumbling of paper, photoshop. based off of the song- Doubleplusungood by Seabound. wallpaper size- 1280x1024 If you use the wallpaper and you like it, please favorite it. Okay... so it's been awhile since i've done anything like this (take a couple of years actually.) It was liberating to do this project. Also I need to free up the way I color again, cause I have a feeling i'll be adding these elements to other 'projects' in the future. About the contest- we were suposed to make a wallpaper for the new album, "Double-Crosser" by Seabound (one of my all time favorite Syth-pop/ebm/industrial groups. ) I picked the song "Doubleplusungood." I wante dto convey the emotion that the narator gives off through his lyrics and emotion. The words in the piece are directly from the song (well as well as i could make out since I couldn't find the lyrics online.) I dunno if it's Guy (my character). It could be.. it's fitting. I just got stuck with a bald head, cause of the cover of the SEabound album, and I'm a sucker for bald guys (and guys with long hair.. go figure.) Check out Seabound! Seabound's homepage. Their Myspace, with samples from the new album. that is all. -chan Daily DeviationGiven 2008-03-14Doubleplusungood 1280x1024 by =SpookyChan... shows us that love frequently equals to pain, in order to surrender to it a part of us dies for another part to be loved. We strangle usually the parts within us that we think someone might not like them, we hide them away, and they scream endless scream untill it slowly fades away. (Featured by ^archanN) |

but... nice
anyways...very awsome work. I like how you used more than just photoshop to give the desired effect (i.e. burning & crumpling)

"Life isn't fair. It's just fairer than death, that's all."
-William Goldman "The Princess Bride"
I LOVE the fact that the medium here isn't just pen pencil photoshop, water fire!! ARE YOU MAD... or ust haveing fun
I'd say looking at this is rather fitting into my day to. Today we visited a Jake and Dinos Chapman Exhibition, if you don't know about them there contrvertial artist and they've put on an exhibition of 15 years of work and the two of them have done somehing i'd love to do, tried a bit of everything. From painting an etchin to model making and sculpture, if they think it's sound fun they learn about it anddo it. BUT there art is often sickening and often people think that they themselves must be sick though I think they are just rather clever fellos
This piece reflects a sort of painful imagry you see in there work, that's why I think it fits in. I love how it all feels togetherm there is almost a painful moveoment to it, as if as the character moves the words would scrap and scratch them, this also gives it a rather painful texture to, like reaching out it would almost transfere this into your hand and down your spine.
It is always good to free yourself up, I need to do it myself what I kinda am doing. Am wuiting my job to focus on art and my mummy has agreed to cover me until i get to uni
wonderful piece, good luck for the compo!
